What is Cicero?

Cicero is your hands-free GPS audio guide for Florence.

It’s a digital app that helps you explore the city through immersive audio storytelling, interactive GPS navigation, and curated walking routes. With 28 detailed audio tours, Cicero transforms Florence into an open-air museum you can explore at your own pace.

How does Cicero work?

Cicero offers two ways to access the experience: direct purchase or access code redemption.

Option 1 – Purchase a Pass Directly

Using Cicero is simple:

  1. Purchase your preferred access pass (24h, 72h, or 120h) on our website.

  2. Receive your personal login credentials by email.

  3. Download the Cicero app from the App Store or Google Play.

  4. Log in with your credentials.

  5. Choose your language.

  6. Start exploring.

Select a landmark or route on the GPS map, follow the walking directions, and as soon as you arrive at your destination, the audio guide will automatically start playing — enriched with music and immersive sound effects.

Your pass activates from the moment of your first login.

Option 2 – Redeem an Access Code

If you received a Cicero access code from a hotel, tour operator, taxi service, travel agency, event, or other partner, you can activate your pass directly inside the app.

No in-app payment is required.

To redeem your code:

  1. Download the Cicero app from the App Store or Google Play.

  2. Create your account (Sign Up).

  3. Open the “Redeem Access Code” section inside the app.

  4. Enter your unique access code.

  5. Your access will activate automatically.

The duration (24h, 72h, or 120h) starts from the exact moment you redeem the code.

Each code is valid for one-time use only and cannot be reused or transferred.

Do I need an internet connection?

Yes, an Internet connection is required to:

  • Purchase your pass

  • Receive your login credentials via email

  • Download the app

  • Log in

  • Use premium features, such as GPS navigation, automation, and audio guides

During your visit, an active connection is essential to fully enjoy all of Cicero’s features.

If you are using roaming or mobile data, Cicero will guide you along your route and automatically activate when you reach each destination.

Do I need to purchase a pass to use Cicero?

Yes, unless you have received a valid access code.

To unlock all audio guides, GPS routes, and premium features, you must either:

  • Purchase one of our access packages (24h, 72h, 120h), or

  • Redeem a valid access code provided by one of our partners

Without a valid pass or redeemed code, access to audio content and navigation will be limited.

What is included in my access pass?

Your pass includes:

  • Unlimited access to all 28 Florence audio tours

  • GPS-enabled interactive map

  • Automatic audio playback upon arrival

  • Suggested themed itineraries

  • Historic piazzas, monuments, gardens, museums, and hidden artisan workshops

  • Hands-free navigation experience

You can visit as many locations as you like within the duration of your pass

What is included in my access pass?

If you purchase directly, your pass becomes active the moment you first log in to the app.

If you redeem an access code, the pass activates at the exact moment of redemption.

The selected duration (24h, 72h, or 120h) runs continuously from activation.

Can I use Cicero at my own pace?

Absolutely.

Cicero is designed for independent travelers. You can:

  • Pause and resume audio

  • Replay stories anytime

  • Choose your own route

  • Visit only the places that interest you

  • Follow one of our suggested Florence itineraries

There are no fixed schedules or group constraints.

How does the GPS audio feature work?

Cicero uses GPS technology to guide you through the historic center of Florence.

When you select one or more locations:

  • The app shows the walking route and estimated time.

  • Follow the directions through the streets and squares of the historic center.

  • Once you arrive at your destination, the audio automatically starts, telling you the story of the place and its monuments, enhanced with music and sound effects.

It’s a completely hands-free experience: you don’t need to constantly check the screen.

What kind of places can I explore?

Cicero includes 28 curated locations across Florence, including:

  • Historic piazzas such as Piazza della Signoria, Piazza Duomo, and Piazza Santa Croce

  • Renaissance masterpieces and iconic monuments

  • Major landmarks like Ponte Vecchio and the Uffizi Gallery

  • Gardens such as Boboli and Bardini

  • Hidden artisan workshops including goldsmiths, leather craftsmen, sculptors, perfumers, and shoemakers

It goes beyond the landmarks to help you discover the authentic soul of Florence.

Is Cicero suitable for short stays?

Yes — especially.

Do I need public transport?

No.

Florence’s historic center is pedestrian-friendly and best explored on foot. Cicero is designed specifically for walking routes through alleys, streets, and historic districts.

On which devices is Cicero available?

Cicero is available for:

  • iPhone (iOS)

  • Android smartphones

Make sure your device has GPS enabled for the best experience.

Can I choose my language?

Yes.

After logging in, you can select your preferred language from the menu inside the app to enjoy an immersive experience in your native language.

Is Cicero a live tour guide?

No.

Cicero is a digital self-guided experience. It gives you complete flexibility, without group schedules or fixed meeting points — while still offering professional-quality storytelling and curated cultural content.
